Top quality 6 chord mandolin zither. The bird motif was designed by Heinrich Riller a zither maker from the early 1900s. from Markneukirchen, Germany. He was then absorbed into the Musima factory when the Soviet block came about in the 1950s and came under the collective names of Musima and Jubletone.
This is quite a rare example made in the 1970s. Wood veneer around the edges with brass beading/edging (the first I've seen!!). Solid wood back and lovely hand rail.
It has 6 sets of chords each with 4 strings. There are 25 double course melody notes (50 strings) giving the mandolin sound and was also supposed to make it louder! 74 strings in total.
It's in lovely condition, the pins hold their notes - no slipping. Strings in good condition. With a very unique look.
It will be tuned before leaving my workshop, ready to play. Tuning key included.
