Concert zither made by Reinhard Sommer in Bad Brambach, Saxony, 1940s. Reinhard was born in 1863 and died 1945, his son took over the family business. In 1961 he was registered with the Musima/Migma Soviet music factory, where, because of Soviet rules, was banned from using the family brand, as were lots of instrument makers in the region and they became a collective in one of the biggest music makers factory in Europe.
This is a well played, looked after zither. It has signs of wear on the sides where your thumb would be placed. One tuning key is a bit stiff!. I think it's been cleaned at some point using a chemical furniture spray which has clouded up the varnish (nitro').
It does stay in tune, pins tight and strings in pretty good condition. 32 strings in total
Comes in a solid case, it has a tuning key and I'll put in a tuning chart/instructions.
Dimensions are 56cm x 30cm.
Tuned and tested before leaving my workshop.
